Satellite Stories

This aussie four piece reminds me of two of my favorite bands, Two Door Cinema Club and The Wombats.  My only problem wif’em is that they were featured on Jersey Shore.  Take gigs where you can, but if it’s Jersey Shore, tell’em to f**k off.  That’s my personal policy at least.  Also, if you’re ever offered an opening gig for that wonderful band Nickelback, turn it down.

“My preferences are better than yours” comments aside, these guys are great.  They make me bounce around in my desk chair at work like nobody’s business.  Check out these two grooves…

Bombay Bicycle Club, Fixed.

If you’re not familiar with Bombay Bicycle Club, get acquainted.  This band out of London first caught my eye back in 2009 with their full-length premier I Had the Blues but I Shook Them Loose.

Since then they’ve released an album each year (that makes three for those of you that are mathematically disadvantaged).  They sort of dropped off my radar for some of last year, although I continued to keep their Blues songs in my rotation, I didn’t find much appeal in their 2010 release Flaws.  However, their newest drop, A Different Kind of Fix impresses again.  It’s definitely more upbeat and poppy than Blues, and as such is aptly titled.

Give these two tracks a go :

Evan Voytas

This Los-Angeles based singer/songwriter makes his snazzy synth-pop beats in his own home, as is fast becoming the trend.  Stumbled onto his EP Tomorrow Night We’ll Go Anywhere (2010) and I’m a fan.  He definitely brings up the same sort of feelings that one of my favorites, Starf**ker, always did, but with a more gratifyingly depressing tone.  Give this track, Our Thing, a listen to :
